Above the grooves, the neck is thickened as at J, and the upper part of the neck is formed internally with a groove C. A cork B is driven in below the groove C, and a metal disk G is expanded into the groove, where it presses into a ring M of rubber or cementing-material. A hard metal disk or plate H is usually placed between the cork and the plate G. The plate G may be perforated at its centre to facilitate its removal by a lever G<2> or the like.
