The upper is placed on the last in the ordinary way and sewn to the grooved inner sole B, after which the shoe is removed from the last and turned right-side out. A thickening heelpiece may then be attached, after which the rubber or outer sole C and welt E are sewn to the inner sole B as shown. The thickening-piece at the heel and the welt E may be dispensed with.
