Abstract

6579. Knapp, G. A. March 16. [Cognate Application, 6939/11.] Connecting uppers to insoles and soles; designs of boots.-A boot designed to give more freedom to the toes is formed with a skeleton vamp comprising straps b, c and a toe cap d, Figs. 1 and 2. The upper proper a terminates at b<1>, Fig. 1, and is sewn to a toe lining e, which is lasted over a supplementary insole h. A toe block k is temporarily positioned at the end of the last, and the toe cap d is lasted over this block and left to dry. When the toe cap is set, it is again raised and the block k is removed, after which the toe cap is replaced and sewn in with the insole l and a welt. The outer sole and heel are then attached in the usual manner. In a modified arrangement, the lining e covers the whole of the foot, instead of only the front portion. Specification 1401/11 is referred to.
