Connecting uppers to insoles and soles.-A house-boot, shoe, or slipper is made by tacking an upper a to an insole b upon a last; an outer sole c is next sewn to the upper, the stitching passing through the outer sole, the upper, and the insole; and the central portion of the insole is then removed by tearing it along perforations or scorings which are formed in the insole. The central portions of both the heel and sole of the insole may be removed. Three rows of perforations are formed in the insole, which is preferably torn out along the inner row, the other rows serving for giving lightness. In the Provisional Specification, it is stated that a frame-like insole may be used.
