Fig. 1 shows one form of the stopper in section. One or more pairs of spring catches S are fixed on the stopper C by a wire W tied over the catches in a groove. The lower ends H spring under the collar R and hold the stopper on the jar, the elastic packing-ring P being at the same time compressed. To remove the stopper, the ends H of the spring catches are pressed outwards. In a modification, the spring catches are fixed on the neck of the bottle and spring over a ledge on the stopper.
