Abstract
9109. McCormick, W. A. April 9. Water-waste preventers, siphon-discharge. In the bottom of the cistern is formed a tubular chamber C communicating at C<1> with the siphon B. By means of a plunger E, actuated in the manner shown, the siphon is started. A non-return valve E<2> allows the plunger to be moved easily into the position shown in dotted lines, when the actuating- chain is pulled. A weight A then throws the plunger forward into its normal position, leaving the opening C<1> free. If preferred, the position shown in dotted lines may be the normal one. The top of the chamber, or the top and sides, may be carried by and move with the plunger.
