Abstract

189,541. Thompson, W. Sept. 1, 1921. Plug couplings and connectors.-- A device for coupling electric leads together or to lamp-holders and wallsockets, comprises two like members of insulating material, Fig. 1, cylindrical in shape and having half the cylinder removed from a portion of their length. The projection thus formed on each bears a projecting screw-thread C and loose covers M of insulating material internally screwed. and surrounding each engage the section of screw-thread on the other part to hold the elements of the coupling in control, Fig. 5. These elements comprise conducting rods G, Fig. 3, filled into axially directed holes D are exposed at the faces of the long and short-limbs of each half coupling. The former has a socket and the latter a projection. The opposite ends of the rods may be formed as terminals, as flush contacts to engage in a, lamp-holder, or as plugs to co-operate with a wall-plug socket. In the latter case they are cranked and screwed into the insulating member so that by turning them in their holder they mav be adjusted in pitch for any socket. The rear ends of the covers have openings through which pass the leads in the first case and the rear portion of the coupling in the others.
