Abstract

188,870. Read, C. Oct. 3, 1921. Spray burners; oil supply.-In the burner apparatus claimed in Specification 161,805 comprising an atomizer, a vaporizer, and a gasefying combustion chamber, the atomizer body A is fitted with an adjustable air, steam, or other gas regulating cap A<2>, the inner edge of which may be convergent or divergent in respect to the outer edge 2a of the fuel-chamber 2. The body A is formed with oil and air inlets 1, 7. The vaporizing-chamber 16 may have its entrance edge 16<a> turned inwardly to prevent the atomized fuel from being blown back towards the atomizer. The entrance edge 16<a> may be provided with air-admission holes 16<b> controlled by a hit-and-miss ring 16<c> or other regulating means. The refractory lining 18 of the gasefying and combustion chamber 17 may be splayed outwards or curved inwards, and may also be grooved helically so as to give the issuing flames a circular movement. The liquid fuel may be preheated on its way to the atomizer by passage through a pipe 1<a> coiled around one or both chambers 16, 17.
