Abstract
184,768. Dandois et Cie, J. B. Aug. 13, 1921, [Convention date]. Holders for sliding windows.-A sliding window is held in any position by being pressed between ledges on the uprights of the door and a pair of pivoted vertical bars moved towards the window for clamping it in position, or away from it for releasing, by means of cam-actuated horizontal rods which operate shoes on horizontal arms mounted on the door uprights and inclined towards the face of the door. The rods a are suspended from bolts d on the top of the door and are rigidly connected by a cross-piece k carrying a bracket j, to which is pivoted a disc k at m. The disc k has two camslots n in which travel the heads o of studs or nuts p adjustably mounted on horizontal screw-threaded rods q terminating in shoes t which slide on the brackets w mounted on the door. When the handle l of the disc k is turned, the heads o of the studs travelling in the cam-slots n and guided by the horizontal slots s in the fixed bracket cause the rods q to move towards or away from each other so that the shoes t slide along the inclined arms v of the brackets w towards or away from the plane of the door, forcing the cross-piece towards or away from the glass and thereby causing the glass to be gripped between the bars a and door ledges h, or released. A turned-over portion of the bracket j has a slot z with recesses x, x<2> for holding the handle l in either of its extreme positions. The bars a are separated from the heads of the bolts d and the door face e by rubber washers f, g.
