Abstract

Cam-actuated pumps; lever-actuated pumps; stroke, varying; rods and rod guides.-In pumps of the type actuated by a windmill 8 or the like through a cam 17 shaped to effect a slow pumping-stroke and a quick return stroke, the return stroke is ensured by the provision of a guidesurface 18 which together with the surface 17 engages a roller 14 on a lever 11, which actuates the pump-rod 3. The lever is pivoted between the bifurcated projections 9 on the framing 1 at points 10 or 10<1>, which thereby enables the pump stroke to be varied, and the arm 13 may have a guide 22. Modifications comprise the use of an axially-acting cam engaging a bell-crank lever, or the lever may be dispensed with by mounting the roller directly on the piston-rod, which is then guided between fixed slides on the pump frame, the guide-surface for the roller being provided in each case.
