Abstract

184,388. Ennis, W. F. Sept. 1, 1921. Covers for bolts and bolt holes; bushes, boltbole.- A hole having an annular shoulder and an extended threaded portion coaxial with the stem, for fixing insulators, cross bars &c. of telephone and telegraph posts, is fitted so that the stem is sealed in the bolt hole from atmospheric conditions. The bolt 1 has a resilient washer 9 under the shoulder 2 and is screwed into a socket 6 closed by an oppositely-threaded plug 7 having a resilient washer 8 under the head. The socket 7 may pass completely through the bolt hole. 5 and be flanged at one end, and alternatively the plug 7 may have an internal threaded portion forming a socket, in which case the outer surface is not threaded. A special tool 19 for removing sockets is provided comprising a bolt-headed punch, the threaded end of which is screwed into a socket by means of a flat key which engages in a transverse slot in a tapered stem portion. Varicus types of bolt may be used in conjunction with the invention.
