Sparking-plugs. - In a sparking-plug of the type in which a porcelain or like insulator is cylindrical for the greater part of its length and is enclosed in a metal casing comprising two parts a, m screwed together, the upper member m is formed with longitudinal openings p, for cocling the insulator, extending over the greater part of the length of the insulator and formed by narrow strips of metal extending from an annular cap n to the lower part of the member m. Shoulders o, f on the insulator are engaged by the cap n and the part c of the member a. In a modification, the reduced ends of the insulator are identical in form to enable the insulator to be reversed end for end in case of fracture.
