Abstract

183,723. King, O. C. F. Aug. 20, 1921. Slide-rules.-A slide-rule for use in multiplication and division of money and percentages comprises a tubular member B movable axially and angularly within a member A and a cursor C with index marks C<4>, C<5> movable on the latter. The members B, A carry spiral logarithmic scales B<2>, A<2> representing money values from one farthing to one thousand pounds and numerals from one to one thousand respectively. The member B is provided with spring tongues which co-operate with an internal lip on the member A and prevent the separation of the parts. The cursor is provided with a similar lip which co-operates with spring tongues on the member B. Both members have bands of velvet which frictionally hold the parts against accidental displacement. The instrument when not in use can be stood on a base A<8> or suspended by a pendent fitting B<5> provided with an air vent.
