Jigger machines.-In jigger dyeing-machines, padding or nip rollers are mounted in slidable bearings so that as one roller is moved into action against a bowl the other niproller is simultaneously moved out of action from a corresponding bowl, the movement being either done by hand or automatically when the reversing-clutch operates. The niprollers 1 mounted in bearings 3 are slid or reciprocated longitudinally over a frame 5 bv means of an eccentric pin 12 on a rocking shaft carrying an arm or tumbler 9. The arm 9 carries a frame 10 and a sliding weight 11 so that when the arm is moved by hand a little beyond the vertical the weight will slide to complete the movement and to transmit considerable and even pressure of the nip-roller against one of the driving-bowls 2. The arm 9 may have a fixed instead of a sliding weight. The bowls 2 have flanges 2a so as to retain a well of liquor in the zone between the two rollers. When the traverse of the cloth x through the machine is reversed by operating the lever 14 of a reversing dog clutch, a link connecting the clutch and the arm 9 may be used to throw over the arm 9 simultaneously.
