Spring power-storing mechanism.-In automatic means for preventing overwinding of a spring in which the reciprocating pawl is disengaged' from its ratchet wheel by means of a releasing lever co-operating with a notched disc revolving with the ratchet wheel, the releasing- lever is provided with a series of bosses or projections, and the oscillating lever carrying the pawl and the pawl itself are adapted to operate in eonjunction with the releasing-lever. The pawl 6 is mounted on the lever 3, 5 operated bv the eccentric 2 and' the driving-shaft 1 and cooperates with the ratchet wheel 8 whereby the spring is wound. The pawl-releasing lever 13 is provided with a series of bosses, one of which 17 bears against the outer coil of the spring 9 during the early stages of the winding. As the winding proceeds, the next boss 18 comes into contact with the disc 15 and drops into the notch 16 when the spring is fully wound, whereupon the nose 11 of the operating-lever 3, 5 bears upon the eccentric face 21 of the next boss 19 and is held out of engagement with the eccentric 2 and in an inoperative position so stopping the winding. The fourth boss is provided with a profile 24 upon which the tail 12 of the pawl rides and disengages it from the ratchet wheel irrespective of the position of the operating-arm. To cause the spring to function, the lever 25 is pulled by the cord 27, whereby the detent 10 is disengaged from the ratchet wheel, the pawl-releasing lever 13 is pressed down by the arm 31 co-operating with the projection 32 and the pawl 6 is kept away from the ratchet wheel by the boss 30.
