Abstract

182,615. Date, W. H. May 2, 1921. Convertible gas and electric lamps.- In gas lamps for motor vehicles an auxiliary electric light bulb 7 is mounted on an arm 4 pivoted at 5 to an insulating block 2 clamped upon the gas-burner 1, whereby the bulb can be swung into and out of position adjacent the gas-burner, and when it is swung into position the electric circuit is closed automatically. One lead is connected to a terminal 10 on a spring contact 8 which engages with the central contact of the bulb and is insulated from the arm 4, and the other lead is connected to a clip 11 which holds the arm 4 in the raised position. A clip 13 holds the arm 4 when the electric light is not in use.
