Bore-hole apparatus.-The apparatus described in the parent Specification is modified by supporting the hydraulic cylinder e or like launching- means directly on side members a without the intervention of a cradle &c., the side members being secured in the pit &c. as by ratchet nuts c and screws secured to end-plates p. The front end of the cylinder is vertically adjustable in a saddle supported so as to be laterally adjustable by screws engaging lugs which are adjustable along the members a. The rear end of the cylinder is carried by trunnions with adjustable nuts supported by pins i resting on, or engaging slots k in, the members a. The distance separating the side members is adjustable and the cylinder e may be reversed relatively to the side members. The end-plates p are adjustably suspended by cables from girders &c. s forming handles for transporting the apparatus. Vertical sighting-rods and plumb-bobs may be provided for use in aligning the apparatus. When the cylinder e is turned into vertical position for use in withdrawing boring tubes &c., pulleys 6 secured to the cylinder guide the haulage cable.
