Clamping-devices; post files; boxes.-A paperholder of the kind employing one or more pins or spikes oo-operating with springs for retaining the papers so that they may be delivered singly is arranged so that the points of the pins &c. are covered or enclosed. In one form, shown in Fig. 2, a base A is provided with a coiled spring B having an extension b clamping the papers to the base, a second coiled spring C with extension c being mounted on a bar A<1> secured to the base. A small grooved cylinder E having a pointed pin F is carried in the extension c, the spring C forcing the pin into the papers. A cover G may be provided. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the pin F is fixed to the base and two spiral springs B<1> united by a. strip b<1> clamp the papers, or a spring of the form B, Fig. 2, may be employed. A lid G is hinged to the base and covers the springs and pin. A small pin g holds the spring clamp B<1> while the papers are being threaded on to the pin. In the construction shown in Fig. 6, a pin F is fitted in a box A<1> provided with a cover G<1>, the papers being threaded on the pin, or on a wire H with looped ends h<1> through which the pin passes. A follower plate J provided with a rack is engaged by pivoted springs B<2> and has an aperture j to allow passage of the pin. The sheets are engaged through an aperture a and are delivered through a slot a<2>. In a modification, a roller having a ratchet action is provided to deliver the sheets, and the springs engage a stop on the edge of the box. In another modification, shown in Fig. 10, the pin is fixed to a plate A<2> in the box and the springs fixed to the lid G which is hinged. When the papers are not perforated, a smaller pin may be used with an additional spring to force some of the papers on to the pin. Instead of a. wire H with looped ends, a safety-pin or the like may be threaded through the sheets and attached to the pins, which may be carried on other parts of the box.
