Abstract

Compound engines.-The high and low pressure cylinders K, F of a locomotive are supplied with steam from high and low pressure boilers B, A respectively, the high pressure boiler being arranged inside the low pressure boiler. A pump E forces water from the low pressure boiler into the high pressure boiler. The high pressure cylinders exhaust into the low pressure boiler. The high pressure cylinders may be placed inside the low pressure boiler. Specifications 6221/85 and 4588/87 are referred to.
