Abstract

180,310. Kutzner, G. May 14, 1921, [Convention date]. Locks, square-key and like.-The handle spindle 13 of a door fastening is temporarily secured against rotation by a bolt 3 operated by a square or like key. The face-plate 1 has a box 2 which houses the bolt 3. A disc 5 with a cylindrical portion rotates in a hole in the face-plate and has an eccentric pin 6 engaging a transverse slot 4 in the wider part of the T-headed bolt 3. A spring 9 in rear of the box 2 has a projection 12 engaging in one of a pair of depressions in the bolt according to whether it is in its locking or unlocking position. A front plate 15 secured to the face-plate 1 may be added to protect the keyhole in the cylinder 7. Figs. 1 and 2 show the bolt 3 in its locking position. To unlock. the key 8 is inserted into an aperture in the cylinder 7 and turned, the pin 6 lifting the bolt 3 out of the recess 14 in the spindle 13 which can then be turned to release the door. Figs. 6. 7, and 8 show different ways of operatively connecting the cylinder 7 with the key.
