Abstract
180,191. Murdoch, J. H. Burn-. May 5, 1921. Oil supply; burners, mounting.-In a blueflame oil stove having a reservoir of the maintained-level type, the flame is regulated by tilting a pipe connecting the reservoir and burner thereby adjusting the oil level in the burner. Fig. 1 shows a stove suitable for use in a chicken brooder or hoover in which a pipe k leading from a burner o is soldered to an oil reservoir c in which is arranged an inverted oil bottle f. The valve i of the oil bottle is kept open by an abutment j. At one end of a support a the pipe k rests on a packing-piece q. A plate d secured to the bottom of the reservoir c passes over pins e on a cross-piece b at the other end of the support a. The support a is provided with levelling- screws. The flame is regulated by raising and lowering the burner by means of a screw v engaging a bar t passing below the pipe k. A shield y is arranged over the pipe k. In a modification, the burner end of the pipe k is raised or lowered by means of a cam. In another modification the reservoir end of the pipe k is raised or lowered. The flame-regulating means may be operated thermostatically and stops may be provided to limit the pipe movement. According to the Provisional Specification, the oil level in the burner may be varied by raising or lowering the oil bottle f.
