Turning; lathe centres.-For effecting the preliminary machining of the end of bar stock, or a similar operation, a tool C<5> is carried in a holder C<4> traversed by a hand-operated snail-cam D against a spring C<6>. The holder C<4> slides on a support A<2> which is mounted in the turret by means of the shank A<3>, and has a sharp-ended centre B, for steadying the work, bearing against a ball race A<5>.
