Sparking, preventing; switches, actuating by electric motors.-Limit switches operated by hoist motors break the circuit at several places in series. A nut 4 travelling on a screwed spindle 3 in gear with a hoist drum carries two sets of contacts sliding over two corresponding sets of stationary contacts 5, 6 in the circuits for forward and reverse running of the motor. Four or more contacts are placed in series in each set so as to sub-divide the spark and reduce the required amount of separation.
