Abstract

178,166. Brown, J. S. Dec. 11, 1920. Pistons.-In a piston cooled by fluid circulated by inertia, an air-vessel is introduced in order to equalize the flow of fluid. The piston p carries inlet and outlet pipes a, b, which work through stuffing - b o x e s in stationary supply and outlet pipes . The pipes a, b are fitted with check valves d, e, and an air-vessel c is arranged in the pipe a, or in the pipe b. Alternatively, a closed circuit may he arranged, in a similar manner, between the hollow interior of the piston and a cooling-chamber attached to and reciprocating with the piston.
