Abstract
177,877. Stredwick, E. Jan. 6, 1921. Slipping-preventing attachments to wheels. -In a tractor wheel having grippers which are protruded and withdrawn by rotation of the wheel, a scraper is provided at the part of the rim at which the grippers are withdrawn. Grippers a, having their outer ends passing through holes in the rim b are held by knuckle joints a<1> to a member 9 which rotates upon an eccentrically mounted pin j. The knuckle joints a<1> are prevented from moving axially by annular flanges. The pin i is mounted on an arm m which can be rotated so as to cause the grippers to protrude at the top of the wheel for use on hard ground. A scraper d is detachably fitted to the frame of the machine so that it can be removed when the grippers protrude at the top of the wheel.
