Abstract

Moving-chamber apparatus of the kind in which a tilting device with a rocking movement has tubular collecting and discharging arms which are connected by a tubular conduit constituting a measuring-chamber, has the measuring-chamber 1 formed with an adjustable overflow port 6 through which escapes into bulk the excess liquid picked up by the dipper 4 carried by the arm 2 communicating with the measuring-chamber. The device is pivotally mounted at 5 on a bracket arm 16, and as the dipper is moved back to pick up a fresh supply of liquid from the tank 20 the measured volume of liquid contained in the tube 1 is discharged through the pipe 7. The size or height of the orifice is regulated to adjust the volume of the measured quantity by moving a slidable sleeve 11 over the port 6 formed in a tube 9. This sleeve member contains cork packing 12 to ensure a fluid-tight joint.
