Beasteads convertible into seats.-A bedstead convertible into a couch, divan, chesterfield, or settee comprises a framework having a seat in sections hinged to it and a shorter mattress frame mounted inside it and connected to it by links so that it can be supported beneath the seat or in a raised position for use. Fig. 4 shows the bedstead arranged for sleeping purposes. The sections c of the seat are shown turned down out of use. The mattress frame f is connected by links g to the framework a and is supported in its raised or lowered position by engagement with the ends of the framework. - Some of the links may be extended to form handles g<1> which may be engaged by hooks or buttons. To convert the bedstead into a couch or divan, the mattress frame f is lowered and the seat sections c turned up about their pivots d until they rest on projections e with their edges meeting. Drawers b or cupbcards may be provided below the mattress. The upper part of the end of the framework a may be hinged so that it may be turned down, or may be designed to allow the end of the raised mattress frame to project through it. The framework a may be in sections, and may be provided with a back capable of being turned down.
