A disc D, loose on the shalt a<1> of the feeding-roller A which it drives through a clutch M, is driven frictionally from the pulley C by leather discs F, G on either side which abut respectively against the pulley and a disc H connected thereto by screw bolts J, the frictional pressure being adjustable by springs K between the bolt-heads and the pulley.
