Abstract
177,029. Godshalk, E. G. Feb. 28, 1921. Padlocks; cases for. -The casing of a padlock is casehardened and is composed of two concavo-convex sections 10, 11 of steel, welded together at 12 to form a jointless whole. Rivets 14 and a key-barrel 15 are also welded into place, their ends conforming to the surface of the casing. The casing may be of any of the forms shown in Figs. 2, 4, and 7. In the form shown in Fig. 7 the heads 27 of the rivets 25 fit into recesses 26 in the casing and the heads 29, Fig. 8, of the pivot-pin 28 of the shackle fit into recesses in the ears 33, between which the shackle end 32 fits snugly to prevent the insertion of tools. The casing may be made of an alloy steel which will not rust.
