Abstract

176,730. Yamanouchi, G. July 29, 1921. Paving-blocks. - Consists in an angular ferro-concrete block with a base recess the edge of which is notched, a central vertical hole through which concrete mortar is poured to unite the block to the foundation and to adjacent blocks, and vent holes to permit the escape of air as the mortar is forced in and of water forced out from the mortar. In the form shown, the block A is reinforced by a metal skeleton frame E and has a hole C communicating with a recess B in the base, the edges of this recess being notched at B<1> to permit the mortar, poured into the hole C, to unite with the mortar of adjacent blocks. Vent holes D permit escape of air and of water squeezed from the mortar when this is subjected to pressure. The upper surface of the block may be faced with gravel or with wood. A peripheral groove A<1> is provided for keying adjacent blocks with concrete.
