Abstract

174,617. Bayerische Elektrizitõts- Industrie Rott & Co. Jan. 25, 1921, [Convention date]. Automatic circuit-breakers with fuses. A fuse switch comprises a fuse, ior short-circuits, in series with a thermally-operated circuit-breaker for moderate overloads. An insulating-case a, having a metallic thread b and contact c, contains a rotatable disc e which is retained set against the action of a tensioned spring f by a blade g, of which the upper end engages a thermal element h, and the lower end is electrically connected to the support l of the disc e. The lower end of the element h is connected through a plate i to the contact c. The disc e carries a contact k on its rim engaging with a resilient metal arm m which is connected with the fuse p through the sleeve n. The seat o of the fuse contacts with the thread b. Current then passes through contact c, wire h, blade g, support l, disc e, contacts k, m, fuse p, and thread b. Moderate overloads cause the element h to extend, thereby causing the blade g to bend and free the disc e, which rotates under the action of the spring f and breaks circuit between the contacts k, m.
