Abstract

173,792. Flettner, A. July 7, 1920. Addition to 147,024. Rudders; steering- gear. - The hunting gear of the motor system of the auxiliary rudder described in the parent Specification is actuated by the main rudder spindle or attachments thereon. A spindle 42 carries a pointer 43 adapted to be moved over contacts 44, 45 on the main rudder 1g for setting in motion the electric motor driving the auxiliary rudder 2g. On motion of the auxiliary rudder and subsequently of the main rudder taking place, the contacts are moved so that the pointer 43 is re-set to neutral. The main rudder attachment thereby functions as a " hunting gear." Hydraulic or other power systems may be used in place of electric drive.
