Abstract

Resistance furnaces. - In an electric heating device for gassing yarns comprising a rod-like heating element 3 surrounded by a jacket 2, the yarn 4 receives most of its heat by reflection from the internal walls of the jacket which is made of a material of high reflecting power and preferably of the greatest possible whiteness. In a modification the jacket is made of a material' of high dispensive reflecting power and the interior of the jacket is circular in cross-section so that the heat the yarn receives by radiation is approximately the same, wherever it is positioned. In another modification the jacket has a mirror-like reflecting surface, and the internal cross-section is elliptical the heating element and the yarn being situated one at each of the foci of the ellipse. In the first two devices the jacket 2 is surrounded by a metal holder 1.
