Abstract

264,814. Strada, E. Jan. 23, 1926, [Convention date]. Electrode and resistance furnaces.-An apparatus for soldering a tin B comprises a reflector S which is elliptical in cross-section, a source of heat being situated at one focus and the part of the tin to be heated at the other. The reflecting surface may be of glass, or metal covered with nickel, silver or gilt. The reflector may be provided with cooling fins or passages for cooling water. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that such apparatus is particularly applicable for annealing wire or bars, for treating electric lamp filaments and for cauterising. In an annealing apparatus the reflector forms a complete ellipse in cross-section. A further modification comprises a reflector in the form of an ellipsoid with an electric are at one focus. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
