Indicating.-In calliper gauges of the type having an indicating needle moving over a dial and driven by a plunger, the rack-bar on the plunger is made adjustable to take up wear and slight inaccuracies. The plunger slides in a bracket 24 secured to the plate 18 and through the rack, pinion, and quadrant 27, 29, 32 transmits movement to a pinion 25 on the pointer spindle. The rack and pinion 27, 29 have involute teeth, the rack being semi-circular in shape and let in to the anvil 26 so as to be slightly adjustable and being secured by two screws 54. A damping cylinder and yielding lever connection to the operating handle are fitted.
