Moulding walls in situ.-Apparatus for moulding solid or hollow concrete walls in situ comprises a tamper and mould, which is moved backwards automatically by the action of the tamper. The mould is formed of side plates a of metal stiffened with angles and held at the requisite distance apart by cross-bars b, c, the latter acting as a screed-board. Rollers d<1>, d<2> are mounted on cross shafts and support the mould on the course already formed. One or both of these rollers have ratchet teeth at their ends adapted to be operated at each lifting-stroke of the tamper f by pawl and lever gear e<3>, e<2>, e<1>, and so move the mould along automatically. The tampers, which are operated by hand or power, have central projections to form keyways q in the concrete and side flanges to consolidate the concrete. A sliding feeding-plate g is also operated from the lever e<1> to feed the material into position from the hopper h. For hollow walls a fixed core-piece j<2> is provided, and a movable core-piece j, and the tamper and feed-plate are formed double. When a concrete tie is required between the parts of the hollow wall, the central core j is drawn back to leave a hollow, and a temporary stop plate t is then inserted in the wall hollow. The core is retracted by a spring as the mould moves along.
