Board games. - Relates to appliances for playing a race game of the kind in which toy horses are moved over the divisions of a board in accordance with the dealing of cards, and consists in a table, board or cloth divided into a number of columns, spaces in the columns for cards and counters respectively, an equal number of spaces in each column for toy horses, runners, yachts, or motor-cars to traverse, a " win pool " and " place pool," a set of counters marked to indicate different starts, and a set of ordinary playing cards preferably with the aces duplicated or with other cards introduoed. The board is shown in Fig. 2. The spaces a receive the cards as dealt, the spaces b bear the names of the horses or other objects, the spaces c are numbered and receive the " start " counters k drawn by the players, the equal spaces d are for the horses and the opposite end of the board is marked " win pool " and " place pool." The horses are set backwards or forwards from the divisions marked starting gate according to the directions on the counters k, and are afterwards moved according to the dealing of the cards. The names in the spaces b may be marked on slides or rollers to permit of variation in the names. The horses may be moved by mechanical means, for example, by mounting them on endless bands. The row of spaces a may be arranged to tilt and discharge the dealt cards.
