A set of domino-like pieces comprising at least one group I of identical polygonal pieces with N apices with a value at each apex taken from M values, arranged so that there is one and only one piece of each possible N combinations of M. A second group II of identical polygonal playing pieces which are mirror images of the group I pieces which do not have a line of symmetry may also be used. These pieces of Group II may have a distinctive marking such as a variation in the colour of the central boss 14. Pieces which carry a joker at an apex may also be used. In particular the pieces 10 may be triangular (N=3) and M may be 4, in which case there are 20 pieces in Group I and four pieces in group II or N=3 and M=5 in which case group I has a further 15 pieces and group II has a further six pieces. The game may be played on a panel of juxtaposed compartments of the same size as the pieces. The panel may be in any geometric or figurative shape and may have associated with it a movable boundary to limit the extent of a particular game. Some of the compartments may have an apex associated with one of the M values, which has to be matched by the piece placed thereon. Also some compartments may have removable vignettes which are associated with bonus or penalty points. The game may be played by any number of players who may play on the same or separate identical panels and who select the rules from a panel of variations at the outset of the games. The game may be associated with a timing device such as an hour glass.
