Frames, joints, and connections; ornamenting bedsteads. -The frame of a metallic bedstead comprises side rails a and a cross-tie b composed of two channelled strips engaging one another to form box-rails of hollow rectangular and square cross-section respectively, the side rails being connected to the end bars, and the complete frame being braced by hollow triangular diagonal bars d or by diagonal cables i, i' passing round pulleys on the crosstie b. An ornamental bar a' may be fitted in a recess a<2> of each side bar a. The tie b may carry, at its ends, wings b<1> adapted to engage in sockets c on the side bars, and the diagonal bars d may be similarly secured.
