Abstract

Sleepers, composite; sleepers. - Transverse or longitudinal wooden sleepers are fitted within longitudinal or transverse metal members to form a rigid framework. The wooden sleepers may each be formed by two pieces of wood, and when laid transversely the whole framework may be inclined, Fig. 6. The metal members may be sleepers, tie-beams, or ties, Fig. 3, with openings bounded by angle-members for engagement with the wooden sleepers; when the metal sleepers are transverse they may be inclined at their ends, Fig. 2. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) of the Act states also that the frame work may be adapted for use with points or crossings. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
