Abstract
171,475. Giglio, G. de. Aug. 14, 1920. Adding-apparatus.-In machines of the differentially-set independently-operated type, the totalizer wheels 28 visible through slots 12, are actuated by toothed sectors 14 integral with setting-levers 11 pivoted at 15 to a frame 20 capable of oscillation about centres 21. After setting the amount and so turning the numeral wheels controlled by spring detents 31, a cross-bar 13 is depressed to release the frame 20 which thereupon rocks rearwardly to disengage the racks and allow them to return to normal position under the influence of springs 17. The bar 13, when released, is raised again by the spring 58 so that a projection 23 engages between pins 24, 25 to rock the frame 20 to its normal position in which it is retained by the projection and by a pawl 26 engaging a tooth 20' on the frame.
