Abstract

147,765. Trinks, F. Dec. 4, 1913, [Convention date]'. Adding-apparatus.-In a calculating-machine of the pin-wheel and cam-disk type the settable pins, which may be pivoted for lateral movement or displaceable radially, are adapted to be moved to operative position by means of setting-levers c<1> when turned in one direction and to be restored to normal position on the return movement of said levers. As shown in Figs. 1, 2 the pins d are pivoted at d1 for lateral movement, and the setting-levers c<1>, which are loosely mounted on the shaft b but rotate with the pin wheels a, have projections i, k. The projection i serves to set the pins d in operative position when the lever c<1> is adjusted in the direction of the arrow x, while the projection k on the return movement presses the pins back to inoperative position. Each setting-lever c<1> is held in adjusted position by a toothed sector g thereon engaging a bolt h on the corresponding pin-wheel a. A modification is described in which the setting-levers do not rotate with the pin-wheels a. In this case the setting-levers are pivoted to a hub loosely mounted on the shaft b and are normally held out of operative relation with respect to the pins d by means of a spring (the levers themselves may form the spring). The setting levers are held in adjusted position by a toothed sector on the hub and a bolt on the fixed part of the frame, and by means of teeth or recesses in one side of the slot through which the setting-levers project and which compel the operator to move the setting-levers within reach of the pins d when effecting the setting or restoration thereof. The setting-levers may gear directly or indirectly with numerals wheels to indicate the item set.
