Abstract

171,429. Headley, F. H. July 3, 1920. Seat adjustments; frames, joints, and connections.-Metallic chairs, music stools, &c. are provided with splayed tubular detachable legs e braced by members f, g and connected together by the seat frame which comprises metallic strips a, b riveted together and supporting a seat bottom c of sheet-metal. The seat is connected to the legs by screws l which fasten the strips b and the seat bottom c to plugs or telescopic members q adjustably supported in the legs e. A friction grip can be imparted by collars s carrying pivoted cam-levers r and surrounding the upper split ends of the legs e. A bowed seat back n and supporting struts o can be bolted to lugs m carried by the strips a, angular adjustment being attained by means of the perforations p. Hand grips may be attached in place of the seat back n. Bolts h passing through the legs e and through chills i and plates j secure the legs and cross-members together.
