Abstract
171,288. James, F. Oct. 12, 1920. Locks. - Looseleaf binders of the type having telescopic posts and an expanding back actuated by a screwthreaded shaft are adapted to be fitted interchangeably with a tubular guide for a plain key and with a pin-tumbler lock. The plain-key guide, Fig. 3, comprises a sleeve L with drilled lugs 2 and is bolted under a Banged plate 4, Fig. 1, to the binder, a plain slotted key 8 passing through the sleeve and engaging directly with projections or a cross-pin 7 on the actuating- shaft. When the pin-tumbler lock Fig. 6, is fitted instead of the sleeve, it is bolted to the binder through the same holes but the key 12 operates indirectly upon the cross-pin through a slotted plug 10.
