Wheel-guards, obstruction-removers, and safety appliances.-In a front wheel-guard for a vehicle, a substantially horizontal centre guard is supported by brackets from the chassis and has its transverse slats hinged to side guards, the whole guard being arranged to move with the steering and to be raised or lowered by the driver. The supports d are attached to the chassis by brackets e, the lower ends at g<1>, g<2>, serving as bearings for a transverse bar between the front wheels, to which bar the side guards are hinged at g, g. The top end of each support d is connected to the top framing of each side guard through an eye j. Each transverse slot a of the centre guard is hinged to the lower framing a<2> of the side guard, the lower framing a<2> on one side being extended to the rear to engage a clip attached to the transverse steering-rod i so that, when the guard turns with the steering of the vehicle, the centre guard takes the form of a rhombus. Hand operating-gear is connected to the top framework c of the side guard, so that the whole guard may be raised by the driver drawing the side framing c through the eye i by means of a wire l, the centre guard turning about the pivots g<1>, g<2>.
