Abstract

170,759. Rice, A. G. Oct. 18, 1920. Separating riveted joints by cutting. - The hammer piston 24 of a rivet-breaker is moved in both directions by pressure fluid, under the control of a hand-operated plug valve 8, which is turned as required to admit fluid to the rear end of the cylinder through a port 6 or to a conduit 22 leading to the forward end of the cylinder, the other end being in each case simultaneously opened to exhaust. The valve passage is formed with a curved wall 8<11> to facilitate the flow of fluid, and the conduit 22 contains an adjusting- valve 23. Springs are mounted at both ends of the cylinder.
