Abstract
169,999. Soc. Parisienne d'Etudes Industrielles et FinanciÞres. Oct. 11, 1920, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Breaking and scutching apparatus.-Fibrous stalks are fed from a hopper 1 to a pair of longitudinally grooved rollers 8, 9, the lower one of which is spring supported. They then pass between a smooth roller 17 and a corresponding block 21, which is reciprocated vertically by eccentrics 22 to hammer the material against the roller. They are finally treated by bars 28 carried by rotating spiders 26 and are delivered on to a conveyer 32. The edges of the grooves on the rollers 8, 9, of the block 21, and of the bars 28 are rounded. The feed hopper 1 is pivoted and its inclination can be adjusted by means of the curved arms 4 with notches 6 adapted to engage a bar 7. The rotating parts are driven positively by chain and spur gearing from the main shaft 12.
