Abstract

Protecting from dust and rain.-Consists in (a) a muzzle-stopper which normally protects the nozzle and is released just before the gun is fired, and (b) a removable breech - cover which does not interfere with the actuation of the gun. In the construction shown in Fig. 29, the muzzle-stopper comprises a flap 2 normally held closed by a leaf spring 7 and adapted to be turned to open the muzzle by a wire 15 connected to the trigger. A hook 34 may be provided to retain the flap in the open position. The breech-cover, shown in Figs. 55 and 57, comprises a curved metal plate a secured to the rotary reciprocating breech-bolt and a flexible flap g depending on the left side of the plate a.
