Milling-cutters.-In milling-tools having independent cutters assembled in helical grooves and locked by abutting set-screws in end plates, the grooves, cutter-roots, and distance-pieces are each dovetailed and a flat spring is inserted under each end cutter and its adjacent distance-piece. The cutters c, which fit in the dovetailed helical grooves a, are locked by end nuts e, through one of which pass set-screws f applying end pressure to the elements of each groove. The end cutter and distance-piece of each groove are additionally secured by an upward reaction effected by the pressure of a grub-screw k on a cantilever-spring i. Thin tapered wedges may be interposed between the roots of the cutters and distance-pieces, and in addition, the end distance-piece may be formed in two parts.
