17,184. Mansell, J. H., and Rose, W. R. Dec. 7. Tools.-Holes such as are shown in Fig. 2, having a number of sharp-pointed projections, are broached by a cutter having a portion a, Fig. 1, which roughs out the entire hole, and which is reduced at b to receive a finishing- sleeve c angularly adjustable as controlled by a nut and splined clutch member d. The sleeve has two sets of cutting-edges, each set wider than the work to be broached. The sets are shaped as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, each set finishing alternate portions of the periphery.
